Euro Tower - the first Green building tops out

Bucharest, February 9, 2009 – Euro Tower A-class office building has topped out on its 80-meters height last week.  The latest A-class office building developed by Cascade Group in north-central Bucharest has entered its final execution phase this week when the metallic structure was completed. The construction process will continue with the finishing and the building will be ready for occupancy this summer.

Euro Tower is the first Green office building to be delivered in Bucharest according to international Green Building certification systems. Due to its top location, close to metro, tram and bus stations, Euro Tower will promote alternative transportation and bicycle use. State-of-the-art solutions and systems will be implemented, reducing building’s impact on the environment and energy consumption by 30% as compared to a standard office building. Indoor comfort and productivity of the occupants will be enhanced by floorplates maximizing exposure to natural light and allowing sweeping views over the city. Also, the increased ventilation and sophisticated heating and electric systems will benefit from the individual control of the tenants, enabling individual needs and preferences besides determining substantial energy savings.

Cascade Group’s GM, Alex van Breemen said: “We are close to delivering the first Green office building in the city and we are also close to have it fully rented. 80% of Euro Tower is leased to large international corporations and negotiations are ongoing for the remaining 20%. We are proud to provide headquarters of companies such as the National Bank of Greece, including Banca Romaneasca and NBG Leasing as well as Schneider Electric and other companies into this landmark Green building”.

Euro Tower is located at the junction of Barbu Vacarescu street and Lacul Tei boulevard, close to Stefan cel Mare subway station, to bus and tram stations. The building will cover a gross area of 18,000sqm arranged on five underground levels including 200 parking places, ground floor and 18 floors. The EUR 60M building was designed by the leading Romanian architect Dorin Stefan.  The construction management is ensured by Bovis LendLease from the UK.
